Everything you need to know about Impound insurance.

Impound insurance is a specialist type of temporary motor insurance that allows you to legally insure a vehicle that has been seized and held by the police. It proves to the police that the vehicle is insured so they can release it from the impound.

We offer same-day cover in most cases. Once you submit your quote request, our team will contact you within the hour. After accepting your quote and paying, your certificate of insurance is issued immediately.

Yes. The vehicle must have valid road tax (Vehicle Excise Duty) and a valid MOT certificate. If either has expired, we are unable to provide insurance cover. Please ensure both are current before applying.

Yes. The V5C logbook must be registered in the name of the person taking out the insurance policy. If the logbook is not in your name, additional steps may be required.

Absolutely. We specialise in cover for drivers with points and convictions, including SP30 (speeding), CD10 (careless driving), DR10 (drink driving), and many others. All conviction information must be accurate and complete.

If your licence is revoked or you are currently banned from driving, you will need to nominate another driver to collect the vehicle. You must inform the police and confirm whether you are permitted to nominate another driver. Two options are available: transfer vehicle ownership to the nominated driver, or add them as an additional driver to the policy. Police approval is required.

Yes! We welcome young drivers and new licence holders. Age alone is not a barrier to getting cover with us. We work with specialist insurers who cater for young and inexperienced drivers.

Yes. We can arrange cover for sports cars, high-performance vehicles, modified vehicles, and high-value cars. Many mainstream insurers refuse these — we specialise in exactly these cases.

Impound insurance policies typically start from 28 days (the minimum period required by police). Longer-term cover is also available depending on your circumstances.

You will need: full name, date of birth, address, licence pass date, phone, email, vehicle details (make, model, reg), details of the Impound (police force, impound location, reason seized), and accurate points/conviction information if applicable.

Yes! We guarantee to beat any like-for-like Impound insurance quote. If you have received a quote from another specialist insurer, share it with us and we will match or beat it.

Absolutely. We treat all personal and conviction information with the strictest confidentiality. Your details are only shared with the insurer as required to arrange your cover and are never sold or shared for marketing purposes.
